hello all, so i ended up testing my moms old om-10 and the shutter speeds are ofd with the biggest difference for example being the 1/1000 measuring at 1/521 i had already cleaned the mirror magnet and it seems to function properly so could it be that the curtains arent opening correctly if so would Messing with this (picture attached) yield me any results on getting the speeds correctly? (From the diagram this should be on the bottom cover of the mechanism or am i naive to think a camera known for many faults is that easy to mess with)

so i thought it could be a magnet issue but my om-10 seems to be a late serial number so different design and less prominent to sticky magnet i did clean the contacts but nothing changed and it seems to operate fine, i got no idea if i should try and find a way to access the curtain tensioning thing i posted above or forget about it, the repair manual i've found seems to be for earlier models
(shutter speed at 1/1000 caps at 1/500 etc everything is just slower for whatever reason)

See if you get different results if you use it in auto exposure mode.
There could be an issue with the manual exposure accessory.

Without a way to measure curtain travel times, you really can't adjust the shutter curtains. And, just taking a reading of the film plane in one spot (center?) will not yield good results. I'd recommend cleaning all the parts that move when the curtains are released and lubricating necessary parts as shown in the manual. Doing this will resolve most shutter issues, cranking up curtain tensions will not.

I Will try that tysm!, oh the film plane reading thing has gotten me curious what should i do to take better measurements if center metering isn't accurate?
Edit: Also what kind of lubrication would u suggest i got nothing outside some sewing machine oil but im sure that might not be something i'd wanna use!
