It looks like one of the forum members who had Retina expertise is no longer present.

Who is currently doing such?

My interest is have someone verify, or adjust the known weakness with the film advance business (brass rack and pinion or such), and repair, if need be. Models are II a and III C. Love them, but need more confidence!

Yep, I once was in touch with Paul, here.
Thing is, I do not need the whole thing reconditioned per the going rate.

I’d still get in touch with him. Chris Sherlock, the other well known Retina expert, is retired. I don’t know of anyone else who specializes in Retinas.

I’ve seen on the forums a couple of other names mentioned. But I cant remember them. Probably buried in threads here since I’m not on many other photo forums.

Jay… are your cameras misbehaving in any way? If not , it might not be much of a worry. My IIIc and IIIC were old but in good operating condition. I had them both overhauled and don’t regret it at all. My interest was high reliability and that’s what I have.

Conspiracy theorists posit that Paul Barden and @retina_restoration have some sort of mysterious connection with each other :whistling:.

Please describe the symptoms of the malfunction(s) you're seeing. It's not difficult to disassemble the top of the IIIc and inspect the cocking rack for damage. A new rack will cost you $99 plus the labor it takes to install and correctly sync it with the shutter.

Paul Barden worked on a IIa that had been previously serviced by a different shop and was still having problems. Paul corrected those issues and gave the camera a full service. It worked flawlessly when it returned. I have sent him two other Retinas and have been happy with his work. As repair people become harder to find, it's worth supporting those that know what they are doing.

I can vouch for Paul Barden too. He did excellent work on my IIc and I have a IIa worked on by him along with other cameras.
