Hi everyone. I just thought you might want to know about some of the work that's hanging around town, so to speak.
- Just finished today, was an exhibit of E.J. Bellocq's "Storyville Portraits". This show was at the Simon Fraser University Gallery. These are the prints that Lee Friedlander made on printing-out-paper, after he acquired the glass plate negs, in the 60's. It was a decent show, with great documentation. The gallery Director is Bill Jeffries, formerly of Presentation House. http://www.sfu.ca/artgallery/exhibitions.html
- Today, a group show "Salon" opened at the member run Exposure Gallery. Their new location on East Broadway @ Fraser, is a bit bigger than the old digs on Beatty St. http://www.exposure-gallery.com/index.htm
- Thaddeus Holownia is currently showing at the Winsor Gallery, on South Granville. He shoots on 7x17, and contact prints. I didn't find the work to be that exciting though. Technically competent, but otherwise rather mundane. http://www.winsorgallery.com/exhibits.php
- Presentation House Gallery, in North Vancouver, has the show "Moodyville" ending tomorrow. I'll be over there tomorrow afternoon, to see the show before it's over. - Sorry for the late notices, I just noticed the end date on this one - http://www.presentationhousegall.com
