Hi guys
I have been given roughly 400 sheets of 8x10 Velox paper, expired in 1956.
I would like to use this, but the recommended developers are both long discontinued.
Does anyone have experience with Velox and modern developers.
I keep stock of Dektol and Neutol WA, and am not afraid to buy others, or mix from scratch.
Also, as a side note, does D-163 last well beyond its expiry date?

Thanks

Dektol was recommended for Velox in my Darkroom Dataguide copyright 1958. Dilute 1:2.

Because of the age, you may experience fogging. Benzatriazole can be added to the developer to try to clear it. In case you did not know, Velox is a contact speed paper.

A developer that is really great for old printing paper is Amidol. Very low fog.

Put a sheet in Dektol for about 2 minutes and see what happens. I'm curious. I suspect it will be pretty gray. Rather than looking for another developer, maybe you should look for some Farmer's Reducer; you could bring out the highlights that way. You might be able to do some interesting stuff with it.
