I got some "Shanghai GP3" 120 film, and it's reasonably good overall. However it's /very/ curly, it's a fight to manipulate a 3 6x6 exposure strips!

Anyone has a trick to cure the curl once the film is dry ? I suppose older film would have been as curly and photographer's creativity must have found a fix over the years ?

I have had curly films in the past, I used to hang them to dry and put a cloths pin on the bottom to hang them straight, this helps quite a bit, then cut them into strips and put in sleeve pages and only removed them to print and put them right back, over time this seems to keep them pretty flat.

I suspect the film base is the culprit. This ultra-cheap film is undoubtably coated on an old style base whichhas a lot of natural curl. Hanging a weight on the bottom may help with lengthwise curl, but if, as I suspect, it also curls across the width of the film, I know of no way to prevent it.

Well I had dryed it with some pins at the bottom like I do all the other films.. But as soon as I removed them the film just /zoomed/ back in a roll

Since then (3 days) it's between two block of paper in the sleeve, and doesn't seem to be getting better.. The curl is more or less only lengthwise. Once you manage to wedge it into the scanner holder it keeps reasonably still, and flat :D

Bergger films are very curly too. It's very boring. But the quality make us forget the curlyness... New one is better: BRF 100. I am waiting for BRF 15 to try it and to see the support...
