Imagesetter negatives based on halftone dots have advantages for certain printing processes. For most pigment processes, they can improve consistency and make the challenges of linearization much more manageable. But working with halftone dots also comes with its own set of challenges. In this blog, I discuss the issue of dot gain, its causes and the effect it can have on print densities.
