Hello, does anyone have any experience with Cromatek Filters and holders I no nothing about them, I was thinking of getting a 100mm x 100mm filter holder but maybe using lee filters in them I know they fit (or so it says) or is all the Cromatek stuff good.

I dont (k)no(w), I'll look into them and try to get more info on them for you. Personally, I have a ton of Cokin filters for both A and P series, with a stack of adaptor rings, to use them on all my cameras.

I don't know the holders, but have used a couple of Cromatek filters.
They are quite o.k. (better than Cokin, i find). But Lee makes very good filters also.

Would you say it's better to just start building up a lee filters setup? I know they do good filters and I guess it's an investment I will only use say yellow orange and nd.

To be frank, i think i couldn't recommend one over the other. (Unlike Cokin) i haven't been able to find fault with Cromatek filters. Lee filters are great too.
So perhaps it might be the sensible thing to just go with the brand that costs less (Cromatek, i believe)?
But make sure first that they have the filter you will want to use. (There are many types of ND filters, if you consider the graduated ones as well).

I just recieved an email from anthony Simmons at Spa Photo, about Cromatec filters. They are made from cr39 optical resin, same as Lee and cokin. They will fit the Lee holder, and do make some that fit the Cokin P holder. The polarizers and star filters will not fit the Lee, and they make some optical class softeners like the Zeiss Softar. I contacted the compant earlier this morning, and had a reply in less than one hour,I like the swiftness of response, and they will be posting some literature to my home.
Hope that answeres your question about them.

Hi

I used these filters for a number of years both on a Bronica and then my Rollei 6008. Never had a problem with image quality. The bellows lens hood is a nice piece of kit with a filter box to the rear. I still have them all stored away waiting for the day I get back to medium format.
