G'day all. Obviously, I'm a newbie here - guess that's why I'm posting in this section

I've been around the Pop Photo forums for some time, but need somewhere else to go that makes us dinosaurs feel respected. I'm tired of all the film versus digital rubbish - pointless ramblings with each side trying to justify their decision and/or sway the other side to see the error of their ways. Puhleeez!!!

Anyway, I'm from the Hunter Valley in Australia - wine, coal, beaches, wine, etc. I'm a computer geek by day, and love to shoot film because it feels more 'real' and it gets me away from my job - in front of a computer often feels like I'm still at work - not my idea of relaxation, which is why I love photography. I'm also a Christian, and I'd love to hear from any other Christians who enjoy getting out into creation and trying to do it justice on film - PM me if you like.

I'm picking up my first digi in a week or two, but it's just a P&S for when my wife wants to take it to school, or for taking ebay shots and the like. My heart is with film, and that's why I'm here.

I hope to get to know some of you, you seem like a pretty cool bunch.

Regards,
Gordon.

Glad you left the Poop Photo forums and joined us, welcome to APUG!

Cheers

Welcome from 'upstate' New York. There are a lot of folks here who love to get "out into creation", although not in the religious sense necessarily, and you'll see a lot of excellent work in the galleries. I look forward to your posts.

Welcome. Film is what we do.

I come from a long (20+ year) technology background as well, and I always find it interesting everytime someone else voices the same opinion about working with photographs on the computer that I have. And while we have different religious backgrounds, I too enjoy getting out into the wildness (or what's left of it.) Much of my work involves nature these days, and I don't need much of an excuse to hit the trail anyway, so it works out well. Welcome to APUG!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I just re-read my intro and wanted to clarify one thing...

When my wife goes to school, it's to help out with reading / canteen, etc - she's NOT a student ;-)

Thanks again guys,
Gordon

Welcome to us film lovers, where we actually masturbate over something tangible, not pixelated. :D

Welcome to APUG!
Stop making sexually orientated comments towards my banana.

You're depressing him. Respect my damn fruit.
When I freak out and get a major panic attack I grab a baseball bat and whack a ton of homeless cats until I calm down.

Welcome to APUG!I'm still getting to grips with that newfangled wet collodion stuff Lord Cholmondoley-Fairfax-Farquarson told me about LMSO........

Welcome from wintry New York.

Having once been fortunate to drive up the NSW/Queensland coast I've been through your area of OZ. I have many fine pics (all film - this was in the early 1990's!) of that great visit.

Welcome! Glad to meet you and enjoy ! You will find tons of useful info and friendly people.
