Almost exactly a year ago, I described here how I measured the shutter speeds of 8x11 Minox cameras using simple means. This was possible with a smartphone app in conjunction with a light sensor that I had purchased and adapted to the Minox specifications. The results were accurate and reliable.

Nevertheless, I was still not satisfied with this method. I wanted a standalone device that would measure and display the shutter speeds of Minox cameras practically automatically. I had to make the device myself, fortunately with the help of a friend who is an electronics professional.

First prototype

It now works, and I have written a short article about it here:

I did an AI-based market analysis on this, of course. The market is estimated to have up to 8 potential buyers. A worthwhile business

In reality, the construction of this shutter tester is part of a much larger project. The aim is to find out how to adjust the shutter speeds on Minox models with purely mechanical shutters (Minox AIIIs, B, BL, and AX). Of course, it is essential to be able to determine the actual shutter speeds before and after adjustment in a simple and reliable manner.

Another major task in this context is to analyze how the entire Minox exposure system works at the component level. This work is currently in progress.
