Craig Varjabedian

Wonderful work. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic images. I really like his 'Other Faces' portraits. Thanks for the heads-up.

I think I printed that image in large scale for him when he showed at the Abequerque museum over 10 years ago.

Fun fact: several of Craig's pictures are used as illustrations in the third edition of Phil Davis's "Beyond the Zone System".

Somewhere an essay describes Varjabedian's photographic work life for Ghost Ranch. I think he spent two years living (camping?) mostly in a storage room that was provided by friends in nearby Abiquiu. The terrain is relatively flat, except for the surrounding, towering cliffs.

I believe he used one wooden view camera with one old Zeiss Protar https://apenasimagens.com/en/protar-v-anastigmat-118-carl-zeiss-jena/

Several times every year I stay in Ghost Ranch's shared cabins or camp sites. It's relatively near (in New Mexico-think) to Christ In The Desert Benedictine monastery...which has also let me stay per the Rule of Benedict. https://christdesert.org/

Here's some of his current work. https://www.newmexico.org/event/private-photo-workshop-tour-with-craig-varjabedian/3799/

Hell, anyone can make a stunningly beautiful picture when in the Ghost Ranch Country of Northern New Mexico. If this is not the work of a "Master", I am at a loss about what is. Are there any publications available about his work? I am very, very impressed. I never have seen anything like this at or near the "Visiter's Center at Ghost Ranch.......Wow!.......Regards!

[/QUOTE] I want to change an earlier comment about the above picture. I started by saying that anyone could make such a picture in the Ghost Ranch country. I needed to add anyone but me.

JTK, I would really like to thank you for bringing Craig Varjabedian to my and our attention. I had not heard of this gentleman (and his descriptions about making his pictures sounds like he IS a gentleman) until today and because of you I am enjoying the beautiful work of yet another extremely talented photographer. I especially like his B&W. Thank you again. You have made this old man's day.......Regards!
