Hi all. I'm new to the use of vintage lenses, and have just acquired this lens for use on MFT. Can anyone point me towards information on its date of production? Sorry if this is the wrong area of the site. Thank you, David.
It's pre WWI, the smaller Compound shutters were replaced by the Compur s in 1912. If you know the serial number you can look up a more exact age. Earliest date could be 1902 as that's when the Compound shutters were introduced.
Although uncoated they have good contrast, as there are only 2 internal air/g;ass surfaces.
The history of CP Goerz is interesting, two sons setting up import and not long after manufacture in the US, based in New York. Then ironically the US Goerz Am Opt (American Optical) company supplying the US army in WW1, while their father's company was supplying the German Army.
