Costly Bags

We talking camera bags, or cars?

May I suggest looking to see what your local charity store has on offer. Mine provided both the camera and a couple of bags. Including a vast photo-backpack.
 
I now own three Think Tank "containers" -- a 1-SLR holster, an Urban Disguise 30 shoulder bag, and most recently, a Turnstyle 10 Sling Bag. I think their stuff is well made, though they aren't giving it away! Alas, the specific trip I bought the sling bag for has now been canceled -- one more bag in the closet!

It used to be a small "non-camera" type of bag seemed desirable to discourage thievery, but these days one wonders. A pretty upscale tablet can fit in a rather thin trivial looking bag and might be just as tempting. Heh, I remember a camera club outing in the early 1960s where one guy had a leather bag about the size mail carriers use (read: u-u-uge!) that proclaimed "Nikon" in two inch letters on the side, a sort of walking billboard. I would avoid that!
 
I have a number of bags, most came with cameras I bought on line, my favorite bag is a Puma Gym bag, I had lens cases sown in for 5 lens, room for 2 bodies, filters and the like. I put in an extra sweat shirt in help cushion the bodies, and had a steel wire sown in the strap so it cannot be cut in cut and grab. Happened once in Egypt, had to have new strap sown on. Overall I want a bag that does not say please steal my Nikon. My Puma bag has seen better days and thinking about finding another bag. In the 80s I upgraded by F2 to a F3 and got a FG for a second body, (was promised an FE but it was sold to another PJ) which came in a nice box case, bright yellow with the large black Nikon letters, great case, I do use it for 4X5 film holders.
 
I carry my Fs etc. in a GI gas mask bag that my rich Uncle Sam gave me when he sent me off on my senior trip. It matches my Ford pick-up.

Smart decision.

Also, thieves will just watch whose using a camera - it doesn't matter if you have it in an old sack, they know you've got it.

A few years ago there was a video of a man, a tourist in a country I won't mention, who was surrounded by locals acting aggressive towards him, pushing him and grabbing him. He managed to keep his camera, but his lens was quickly and skillfully removed.
 
When I travel I prefer the old canvas Leica bags. I add a little padding on the bottom. Camera, 2 lenses, 10 rolls film, iphone and charger stuff, and a 12" macbook. The Billingham M bag is also very good for travel as well but considerable more $$$ and can't fit the macbook.

 
I intended to buy the ACAM 7100 but wound up buying a "used" ACAM-3000 (Penn's Pad & Pencil Satchel) which I would hesitate to call used, regardless, it was very reasonably priced. It's a really nicely made small bag and I don't mind paying a little more for something of quality. My favorite bags are from Filson though, they're nearly indestructible.
 
I wouldn't put it past anyone driving a jag.
 

I have one exactly like that I bought many moons ago. I never liked it much as there were no dividers for it and no cushion on the bottom.
 
I got the bag today and it's pretty nice. I can fit both bodies with one having a lens attached and two lens with little problem. The one Ben pointed out is also a super nice bag but very costly for a bag. I think the Think Tank 25i will serve me well.
 
I think it's going to work out pretty good. It's lightweight-a real plus as well. I have another bag that looks and was more expensive but it's heavier with noting in it than this one is with two cameras and three lens.

In mine there is a long tongue to wrap around a primary and one pocket for an M body with wide lens. I add a bit of padding to the bottom. I would agree it isn't for rough play or hostile environments. For that I have a Hadley and/or Billingham M if it's likely to be thrown into a trunk or pick-up bed for a bumpy ride.
 
Mine has no pockets on the inside. It's for sure not a bag you'd through around.
 

My mostest favoritest bag ever. bit large for the Leicas though.
 
I have 2 Domke bags and I am happy with them. Mostly I carry the F6.
