I'm going to be going to Costa Rica for a week in about a week. It's not really my usual types of subjects (birds, etc..), but I'll have my 35mm with me. Anyone have an idea how easy it will be to find slide film there? 'Cause I know I can't find it around here very easily.

Take all of the film you plan to use.

If you are into bird photography, you will have a great opportunity for hummingbirds. I think it was at Monteverde that they had feeders all over the place and many species of hummers. Of course, you will need flash gear and burn through a lot of film.

Thanks. Guess I'd better put in an order somewhere quick. All I can get around here is C41 process stuff (not that it's bad, but I'd rather shoot slides). And I wasn't really clear - I'm not a bird person. I think I spent too much time in a camera club that was based at a nature center and was full of bird watchers. Though a few hummingbirds would be cool.

Costa Rica is a wonderful place for birdwatching. If you are interested make sure to take some compact binoculars and the Costa Rica field guide (heavy but indispensable).

Calumet is always good for fast shipment of film.

There's more to shoot there than birds. If you want to see something unusual, ask about a trip to the cloud forest. IIRC it's near San Jose. There are very few of them in the world.
