Was given one of these, pretty much unused and in working condition. Normally I don't use plastic / fantastic, but it is small and light, even compared to a K1000. I wonder if anyone has an opinion (everyone has an opinion ha!) on the cosina prime lens.

The prime lens may be very good, the Chinon 50mm lenses were superb amongst the best made I've an f1.4 and had an f1.9 equally as good as the best Pentax, Nikon, Canon etc. While the Chinon cameras were made ny Cosina I'm not sure about the lenses, the Chinon WA lenses were awful though.

Ian,
I also have a 50mm f1.4 Chinon lens (has a green cast to the coating) that is superb and have used it much on my Canon 5D with adapter(I don't use much 35mm film anymore). Mine was made by Tomioka Optical and most lenses made by Tomioka Optical were very highly regarded. However, I don't believe the later Cosina cameras came with that lens. Still, most 50mm normal lenses were very good and the one on the Cosina should be just fine. John W
