I've worked in the Grand Rapids area for 45 years. First that I've heard of them..If you're looking for E-6 processing, I'd check these folks out: https://www.agximaging.com/

E-6 is all that they do.
I agree with Tim and would follow the link he has listed. I have talked to Mike at AGXImaging in the Soo and he is a first rate guy and takes his business very seriously. It's the only place I would go for E6.now.
As for Corporate color, it has been many years since I have used them, but I'm sure they still do fine work.. I remember going to their first store front on Cherry St.(I think?) Grand Rapids for their grand opening tour. I think they were more commercial oriented where Allied was more wedding/portrait oriented. That's why I ended up dealing with Allied more. When I was in the wedding business I used Allied Photo in Grand Rapids for all my developing, proofing and printing. They were very professional, but I don't think they are in business anymore. Could be wrong? JohnW

Wow..........Really.?
That is impressive.

I only shoot a few rolls of E-6 each year. It goes to The Darkroom in South Calif.
But they process anything with the name film in it.
AgX is a fascinating story

yes, it's a good story. Anybody that can carve out a living in the cold, cold and I mean cold north deserves my business. I've been to the Soo Locks in the summertime and had to wear a jacket. Cold air can blow off Lake Superior all summer long. That said, I just order a small Tetenal E6 kit to develop some iffy/dated Fujichrome 4X5 film to see if it's worth using. Anything else will go to AgX. JohnW

1. If somebody says "Cold" 3x in one sentence, it MUST be true.!

2. Soo Locks........i assume that is where they got the name (when it was current) Soo Lines Railroad from.?

3. One of our most active and knowledgeable members goes by AgX.............doesn't he... from Germany i believe.?

Answer to 1, 2 and 3.
Answer to number 1 is it definitely gets cold in Sault Ste. Marie. Colder than a well diggers auger that's for sure.
Answer to number 2 is that I believe your assumption about the Soo Lines RR to be correct.
Answer to number 3, you are correct again, but they are not related as far as I know.

I have been up to the Soo for the big snowmobile race and will have to admit that it was a "one time only" thing. My teeth chattered so bad I chipped four teeth. Never again! JohnW

Only in the UP of Michigan. I was working one summer in the Soo, It was August, 92 deg. F. A local pulled in to the parking lot with a snowmobile in the back.

The saying goes: the UP has two seasons: "Winter and two weeks of bad sledding."

There was a car salesman at the Grand Rapids dealership where my son works, who was a Finlander from the UP. I ask him if he missed living up in God's country. He then told me this story and said , "What do you think" when he finished. He said that when he was a little kid his family traveled to the Soo from the western part of the UP for a family reunion. Half way through the day a storm came across Lake Superior. Winds came up and it started a hail storm. They packed up and headed back home toward Houghton/Hancock and before they got home it was spitting snow. I ask him when that was and he said the Fourth of July. Now you know why he ask me ,"What do you think" when I ask him if he missed the UP. JohnW
