Right now, when I want to make a black and white print from a 35mm slide, I make a 4x5 internegative either onto pan film or litho film. This works, but with the very fine-grain films available like Acros, I'm thinking I could probably just copy it onto 35mm film and obtain very good quality. However, I don't know how this is typically done. I know there is such a thing as a "slide copier" but I don't know how they work. Shooting a slide sitting on a light table would be one way, but that would require a macro lens which I don't have. How do "slide copiers" work? Is contact printing 35mm to 35mm a reasonable way to go?
