Copal 3 Mounting Thread Differences?

So, I know the standard thread size is M62-0.75. I just received a Luland retaining ring which seems to be about a millimeter too wide. Were there actually variations in the different versions of Copal 3 shutters, or did I get a bad ring? I did find a few examples of folks having similar issues. I don't have the means to measure either the shutter or ring accurately, unfortunately. The threads seem to be the right pitch...

Tough to get a good picture of while I'm in a meeting, but you can kinda see the gap here.

If anyone happens to know a source for the correct mounting ring for my lens, please let me know! Especially in or around Toronto, or Canada at large. I'm sure Grimes could sort me out, but that's an expensive service for such a cheap lens.

...but every 3S shutter I've seen has been marked as such.

You cannot rely on the labeling - some 3S shutters are marked simply as 3. Measure your shutter carefully and go from there.

Yep, I did see that page. So if the ring I got really is for a Copal 3, then my mounting flange might actually be a Copal 3S, but every 3S shutter I've seen has been marked as such. Any thoughts?

I have a Fujinon in Copal 3S that is marked on faceplate as Copal. Not sure if the faceplates are interchangeable and mix-and-match could have happened. Mine show no evidence of ever being even serviced so I assume that’s how it came from the factory.

As Oren said, "some 3S shutters are marked simply as 3" -- causing confusion/problems. The opposite does not happen.

The early ones like yours were made to share flange with Compound #3 that they were replacing. I've run across at least 4 different thread mount sizes for Copal 3's from old to 3S to newer. Good luck. If you've got an old f4.5 210 in Compound 3 try that flange.

This is good info! Turns out my 250 has a 3S flange, got it mounted and ready to go.

Thanks everyone!
