Hi All,

I've just purchased a used 300mm Nikkor M, mounted on a Copal #3. Everything looks in mint condition but I've noticed that the shutter speeds are quite slow, especially at the lower end of the scale (eg: 1/4sec is more like 1 sec).

Is this something I can adjust myself with the correct equipment ? or would it be more sensible to leave it to the pros ?

If it's to be sent away for service can anyone recommend a reliable/reasonable technician in UK/Ireland.

Thanks a million,

Niall

I once tried to take a shutter apart.....it was not a smart desicion on my part. I say leave it to people who know what they are doing. Perhaps Les can tell you where in the UK you can have it serviced.

Here in the states a CLA usually runs less than $50. Certainly a lot less than having to replace a shutter.
The cause of slow speeds in a shutter is old/no lubricant and is best left to the pros.
