I am in the process of buying a scanner for 35mm negatives. The Coolscan V is about the only dedicated film scanner I am aware of within my budget, however, I have found that the driver runs through Rosetta on Intel Macs and that Nikon do not plan updating it.

Is anyone using this scanner with Intel Macs? What are your experiences? What scanning software are you using? I am considering Silverfast - is this my best option?

If anyone is able to provide a copy of a "raw" scanned negative - pref silver/C41 B&W, please PM me, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks for your help

Try VueScan Pro - a trial is free at http://www.hamrick.com and runs on any Mac. For some 90 US$ you'll get lifelong free updates. I don't know what Silverfast has in the feature list that VueScan doesn't have. If you have a calibration target you can even calibrate VueScan to your favorite color negs.
