Hi all
So a while ago I purchased a Nikon F2A and a Nikkor SC AUTO 50mm f1.4. I dislike the stiff DOF button on the F2A which Is used to meter with pre-ai lenses, o I got the above lens converted by a reputable ebay person.
On receipt of the lens from the eBay, it mounts and meters perfectly on my F2A, and this is backed up by the rolls of film I have shot with the F2A and lens.
However, I bought an F3 last week. I mounted the converted ai lens on the F3, and:
1) it is stiff to mount on the F3 in order for the tab on the lens to meet the metering tab on the f3, unlike the smooth mounting operation on the F2A, and does not require force to push it to meet the F2A metering tab
2) there is sometimes a weird mechanical noise when the f-stop ring is turned when the lens is mounted on the F3.
I do not want to break the lens as the SC is my favourite one to use. Does anyone have any idea of why it is stiff on the F3 and the cause in the noise?
Thanks
Ibanez
