I just picked up a TVS III, which has been very nice to use for the one roll (test roll) I shot through it.
Here's the thing. Looking at the negs, the image spacing is perfect until it gets to the last few frames on the roll. Then it become erratic. Is this normal behaviour? Should I be worried?
Thanks!

As long as it's not overlapping, what's the issue?

As long as it's not overlapping, what's the issue?

None of my other p&s cameras do this, even the most basic one maintains even frame spacing throughout the roll.
I guess I may be getting a little paranoid as I was talking to my local camera repair guy about my Kiev (just before I finished this test roll) and some kid was having issues with his Contax T2.
It was overlapping all the exposures shooting 50 to a 36 exp roll! The tech said this was the third T2 they had seen doing this and was because the circuit board was failing.
So since my camera is also a Contax...

Sounds like something outside of your control!

If it's going to fail, it's going to fail, but who can predict and what could you do about it? Nothing.

Honestly, I'd concentrate on shooting and save the panic for when actual problems occur...

So many things are out of my control. But as I just bought this thing I can still return it which is why I ask.

Oh. I see. Thought you'd had it for a while.

Run another roll through it and see if the problem persists.
Cameras that have been sitting unused for a long time sometimes need to work a bit bit before they function normally.
Particularly those with a powered film advance.

My TVS I does that I think from time to time.

They are great little cameras. When you are in their sweet spot, the images sure are sweet!

You might want to think about getting a TVS I instead of the III. That door thing seems like a pain. On the I it turns on and zooms just like focusing a Leica lens with the nubbin. And you can leave the hood and filters on all the time. Just sayin'. Not sure how the II works.

I just started shooting a second test roll to see if the spacing issue remains, gets better, gets worse.
I also noticed that there were quite a few slightly out of focus images, all taken in good light. Only noticeable if one looks closely - which I do... Much worse than any of my cheap P&S, which eliminates any advantage of the Contax's superior lens.
I had the camera custom mode set to spot focus all the time (thinking that would make for the best results); I have now changed that back to the standard wide view to see if that improves anything.
I have 14 days to return this thing if it does not work out, but at the moment it is kinda funny that a free Pentax WR90 that was graciously given to me on this site gives me sharper pictures with perfect frame spacing. But it is not made of titanium, is not pretty, and does not have that cool name on it!
