Hi. I have a Contax T2. I'm on a shoot in Japan. I'm using several cameras, but really was hoping to use this camera too. I have been using it successfully for several days and suddenly am not able to load a new roll of film.
I put the roll in place, lay the film flat and insert the tip of the film at the other end, as usual.
I close the lid and can hear the motor attempt to wind the film, but then the film advance indicator flashes "00" and it won't shoot. When I open the lid again I see that the film wasn't loaded properly and is not wound around the roller.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Any ideas how to troubleshoot?
Thanks
Thanks @jeff : )
I was panicking and didn't think of a simple thing. I just tried a different roll and it worked!
Not sure why one roll would work and another wouldn't. There is a very slight crease in the roll that failed to load, which might be the culprit, but that being said, there's a very slight crease in the one that successfully loaded as well. Possibly it's just finicky and one crease is more problematic than another.
Anyways, I'll keep that link handy. Thank you
I would keep the errant roll and experiment when you have the luxury. You might find it was something really obvious about camera or film that will put your mind at ease -- or point to a more serious problem. It's always better to know.
My T3 can also occasionally be finicky. However, I find all auto loading cameras to be finicky. The indicating mark on these cameras seems to be a general guide and not a precise marker.
Thanks for the replies guys.
The roll that failed to load is a new roll of Kodak Ektar 100 I just recently bought at B&H.
I bought a pack of 10 rolls, so next time I load, I'll try another roll from the same batch to see how that plays out. @patrick - Thanks for the tip, I'll try that
