Contax RX exposure meter toast?

Hi All,
An RX arrived in the mail today, but I can't get the exposure meter to give me anything but about 5 stops underexposed (ie, should be 2 seconds, but it's telling me 1/15 second). I've compared the same lens on my Aria, and that combination gives an exposure reading that's accurate and in line with every other camera I have.

I've checked the ISO setting. I've re-set all the custom settings to default. Exposure compensation has been set to zero. etc, etc.

Is there anything else I should try before I return the camera to the vendor?

BTW, out of the six Contax cameras I've ever owned, three of them arrived on my doorstep with something not working correctly. Not a very good average when compared to any other brand I've every owned.

Just because you did not mention it, did you have both camera set on the same metering method? I mean both are on either spot or center weighted. Do not use matrix on Aria. But i think you are aware of it and had them set correctly, so I would probably return it.

Edit: Yes, these cameras come with issues, but your case speaks about the seller too. Mine two RXs came with the mirror slap. I cannot imagine the seller did the basic check of the camera. Fortunately it can be repaired easily. I had many issues with other brands too, currently with Nikon from the seller with 100% reputation. Return is often the only fix to these issues.

Yes, i made sure to use center weighted into an area that was relatively homogenous in lighting.

It's very annoying. The last two Contax SLR's I've bought (the RX and the Aria) have both been lemons. (I started a thread elsewhere about the Aria; it was unable to focus to infinity, and one of the members suggested that the mirror box was probably out of alignment.) Guess I'll have to shake the dice again

Well, at least the vendor quickly reimbursed me. And he/she doesn't even require that I send the camera back. So now I just have to figure out what to do with my growing collection of lemons. I don't really use door-stops. They're too big to use as paperweights. And they're not quite the right shape and weight to use as book-ends.
