Contax RF 50mm 2.0 Sonnar Lens - $65

Classic Post-war example that shows some character – some marks on the glass, some internal dust, a lite amount of haze (the dark things inside the lens are air bubbles, which are normal for these lenses). Produces good images despite this – the aperture ring is nice and smooth, and the blades are dry. Some external damage was touched up with some silver paint– not the best, but it doesn’t affect function.

Great lens for your Contax/Kiev RF, or on an adapter to your favorite mirrorless...perhaps a good way to see if these classic CZ lenses are your taste .

Payment via PayPal - price includes shipping in the CONUS and PP fee. International - please inquire for additional shipping fees. Feel free to ask any questions!

**The Contax body used in the illustration can also be had for your best offer - it is not working, and will take a lot of labour and spare parts to get working. I can explain further to the interested, but it could be included if the ultimate intention was to have something to look at on the shelf or if you think yourself handy**

Thank you for looking!

The Contax Body; or a Novel

I am interested in the lens. What do you want for the body?
thanks!

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Thank you for your interest - here is my little write up on the body.

I added the Contax body as an afterthought – that being that it might be something to attach the lens to if the buyer was interested in having a conversation piece. I’ve had a few inquiries as to its condition, how much I would want for it, etc. Hence, I am writing this novel:

The body is in PARTS condition
, and that’s the best way to describe it. I bought it from a seller who “didn’t know much about cameras”. When I got the camera (which came with a nice collapsible, which I’m keeping with my working body) it was evident that I had erred when I thought I could fix whatever ailed it. Most Contax’s I have seen over the years have suffered from slow-speed hang-ups, maybe a little haze in the VF…this one was not one of those.

The advance knob is stuck solid; the viewfinder is badly separated and hazy, and the RF is off on both axes. There is corrosion on the outside, in the film chamber, on the shutter curtains. I used Oleson’s Tech Notes to explore further and discovered rust on most every gear. The environment that this was stored in was not kind.

The real kicker is that the previous owner, probably in frustration, forced the advance knob and ripped the second curtain from its silk straps. Once I saw that I knew my folly was total; I reassembled it, put it on the shelf, and vowed to ask more questions next time.

So, I think $15-20 dollars would be a fair offer on a camera body for parts or display – that would be what it would cost to put in a box and send it with the lens (plus a little extra for my damaged ego).

TL/DR: The Contax body is PARTS/DISPLAY ONLY. Add $15-20 to the price of the lens if you want it.

I am interested. How do I purchase it from you?
