Hello, i was wondering if there are any Contax NX users out there that can comment on the autofocus speed of their NX. I have a chance to get a NX with the 28-80 lens for cheap. I'm interested in the zeiss optics (i'm a contax fanboy, i have a G2 and Aria), but i was wondering if the camera is up to the task of taking photos of my twins running around the park. Any mid 90s to present canon/nikon film camera can do that quite easily. I've tried to do that with my G2 and 45mm lens, but i'm only successful when they stand still. It's a little better with my aria and 35 or 50 prime.

I don't have personal experience with the NX (though I do have an AX, and its autofocus is, too put it nicely, not so good), but I did have an opportunity to handle an acquaintance's N-Digital a few years ago, which I believe should be comparable to the NX. AF speed wasn't terrible, but certainly not on par with contemporary Canons like the 10D. For kids running around it might be alright, but I wouldn't trust it in critical situations. That said, Zeiss glass is always fantastic, and for a cheap price you don't have much to lose. Worst case scenario you end up with a great camera and lens for landscapes and portraits and other still or slow subjects.

Thanks the autofocus system in the NX N1 and Digi N are all the same. Since i have a G2 and Aria i think i'll just stick with that.
