Contax III Contameter

I acquired a contameter set for my Contax III and I know the basics from the net but don't understand why it has a foot on the top as well as the bottom. Anyone familiar with it?

Thank You, I was wondering if because the angle of the feet are different the contameter might work on the Contax II as well as the Contax III, but as the information in the link you provided states, its for parallax.
