I've got a teleconverter with the contax mount front and back, made by zeiss.. I bought it a while back and thought it might be useable but not with my current setup. I think it must go with the reflex housing but would appreciate any information or pictures. It fits on the outer bayonet of my contax and seems to be lightly coated.

Thankyou

Not pretending to be a Contax expert (used a Kiev for a while...), but it looks like it will fit external mount telephoto lenses (the 85mm and 135mm?).

If it behaves like most focal length doublers, it won't vary the focus, so it could possibly be used without a reflex housing (and no rangefinder function).
Since a 170 or 270mm without a focusing aid wouldn't be practical, maybe it is designed for a reflex housing after all... (great help, huh?)
;-)

If you have a 85 or 135mm, try mounting it and check the focus with a piece or paper or similar on the focal plane.

I've tried mounting my 135mm and the part in the lens for linking it to the cameras focus gets in the way, might try taking it out and focusing on the ground glass.. it would be interesting to try it with the 500mm fern tessar lenses as they don't link with the camera focus besides being 1000mm equivalent. Unfortunately being unemployed I guess I'll have to wait to buy the panflex housing (after buying a parts shutter for my bessa, curtain material and a few other things)
