Contax ii for parts

Looking at this auction for a parts camera... Is this a fake contax? I thought Zeiss had not put the flash port on the front.... Requesting some education on this.... Please :confused:

Not an expert on faked or not faked but, this is my perspective.

Not certain why someone would want to fake a parts camera and charge $9.99.

A lot of these cameras were used for a long time so people did try to install flash synchronization in their cameras after the fact.

Just my thoughts.

Klop, there is no such thing as a "flash port"; the term is "pc socket".
It is almost certainly an echte Contax with a later flash synch.

I agree that it looks like a real Contax. Were you planning to restore it yourself, or use it as a parts camera? If the former, I hope you know what you're getting into! These are very complicated cameras.

Agree with the comments above. It looks genuine to me. I wonder, what parts do you need as this is missing the most commonly needed shutter parts and the trim is pretty worn and damaged for cosmetic use?

I had a closer look, it is definitely a Zeiss Contax. It has been well used and has been opened several times - front focus trim and inner rear shutter cover screws show signs of repeated work. Having said that, this is common on an 80 year old camera that was mostly bought by professionals, serous amateurs or the occasional dilettante.

Please don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to imply dishonesty on the sellers part. I have found that many *bayers are just trying to make a honest buck, but don't know what they are actually selling. I myself have gotten many great deals this way. It can work the opposite way as well. Not getting what you think your getting.

I want to dig inside one, but I don't want to tear into a good one....

The PC Socket on the front threw me, never seen this on a real Contax II
