For sale is a Contax I with a 5cm f/2 Sonnar lens. As with many of these the shutter is inoperative so it's a nice looker but would need repair before use. The shutter did move up and down a few times but I can't seem to get it to function at all any more. From everything I've read these were problematic when new and certainly haven't gotten any better in the last 90 years. Serial number is V35860.
The camera body has brassing and some light scuffs and the leather is original and worn. The lens does have some cleaning marks on the front but the aperture moves and the back element is fairly clean.
This is a nice bit of history but probably best to leave it on your shelf and make up some story about how it's Robert Capa's old camera that he invaded Normandy with. Should impress some dinner guests.
