Contax G2 Unresponsive

Hello,

My Contax G2 has suddenly become unresponsive with no shocks or anything, and seems basically stuck in a middle of a shot. Doesn’t respond to any button or the on/off switch. In the exposure counter there are dotted lines going around the perimeter. Is it a common problem and is there a way to help it? Is there maybe a way to reset the camera?

Did you remove the batteries and put in a fresh set?

I did remove the batteries for overnight, but I haven't inserted any, new or old yet.

Will do it and post what will happen.

Also maybe try pushing the manual rewind button on the bottom with a toothpick or pen. You might sacrifice the current film in there but at least it might reset the camera.

Put batteries back in when you try the above.

I'm on my way with the fresh batteries, but I tried the rewind button and it didn't respond either.

Terrific. Glad it worked. Awesome camera you got there. The Contax-G 45/2 is one of my favorite lenses.
