Hey everyone, I just picked up a Contax G2 system at an estate sale for a steal. The camera is flawless and functions perfectly. I got the 28 2.8 and 90 2.8 as well as the body cap and a couple lens accessories. Great deal and gorgeous camera.
My questions are, what tips do you have for nailing focus? It seems as though the half press shutter button is very sensitive to where it acts as if it is on "servo" mode and steady tries to focus when recomposing. Maybe I just am afraid to push too hard and snap a frame.
Either way, I feel like my images are bit soft compared to a lot that I see, but this could be me coming from digital and hoping for the same sharpness from a negative on a flatbed scanner as well. I may send a few of my favorite frames out for "real" scanning. I'm using a V700 though.
Here is an image I made of my pup to test the camera. At normal viewing distance it looks great. Nice shallow DOF and such, but when zoomed in at all, you start to realize just how soft it is. Example below.
