I have not used the tla 200 flash on my G2 in a very long time, and for the life of me can't remember how i did fill flash with it. I seem to remember that I kept the flash in manual, metered manually, stopped down a couple stops and shot away. When I googled it, it seems there were about 9k different work arounds with this camera and flash, none of which seemed in line with what I did, but, since I really can't remember, who knows? Im sure if anyone anywhere knows how to use the tla 200 on the g2 doing fill flash, they will be here.

With my G2 and flash I just fire away. The camera's TTL handles the overall exposure and flash beautifully especially in standard daylight though I use TLA140, TLA20 and TLA30 with my G2.

By the way if you decide you'll not be using the TLA200 much more I'd be interested in perhaps purchasing it. Let me know.

RS proposal is 100% correct if you want the "Newsweek cover" style.
Less obtrusive automatic fill flash: set exposure compensation to minus 1 (with flash on in automatic); frame scene and lock exposure; open lens one stop; expose... done.
Good luck & good light!

Weasel, if I am not mistaken there is a time limit on the AE lock, maybe 15 seconds before it resets.

1st, I like to use either a Sunpal 120J TTL, in TTL mode, on a Flash Bracket or a Quantum X3Dr on a stand, also in TTL mode.

I prefer the light quality of the Round Reflector, I find it a GREAT MATCH, to the lens quality of the Zeiss Lenses.

Here's how you do this. when shooting prime lenses, you can generally rely on Auto Mode, for Metering ! To Prevent ERROR,

Shift the camera into Manual, using the Seting Noted in Manual. The Flash TTL system works in both Auto & Manual Exposure.

To Do Fill-Flash in TTL, you want to underexpose the flash between 1 1/2 & 1 2/3 of a stop, compared to the camera exposure.

*** IMPORTANT: 1. Set the ISO setting to 1 2/3 of a stop Under Exposure, ( Ex. ISO 100 becomes ISO 320 ) this makes both

the camera & flash under expose 1 2/3 under.

2. Reset Exposure Compensation to 1 2/3 + Over Exposure, ( settings on Auto Knob ). This resets the camera to Normal

Exposure.

This forces the camera to expose normally, while the TTL flash is forced to expose 1 2/3 Under !

IMPORTANT*** REMEMBER TO RESET THESE SETTINGS, WHEN NORMAL EXPOSURE & FLASH ARE DESIRED !
