Hey guys,
last year I started using my dads Contax G1 to get into photography. I brought it with me on a 3 months bicycle tour on which the front ring of the lense (Zeiss planar 45mm ) got lose (4 srews) but now also the apperture does not move anymore when turning the ring.
I believe nothing is broken and things just got loose internally as well.
General question:
Did this problem occur to anyone of you? What is the usual approach when dealing with those problems?
Could I open the lense myself to fix the problem or is it important to have it be done in a special environment (low dust & moisture)?
As I yet haven't found anyone doing analog lense repair here in Gothenburg, Sweden, I would like to give it a try myself
The camera/lens that you have are very expensive items. I would not try to repair them myself. In order for them to function correctly they need to be repaired by a qualified technician. You may have to send it to Germany for the proper repair. Prepare yourself for an expensive repair bill. If you try to repair it yourself you will only break it beyond any recovery.
I just did a Google search for "Contax camera repair" and there are several to choose from BUT none close to you. There is one,
Analoga Kameror Stockholm, in Sweden. There are many in Germany, Poland, England. I would suggest you call around to find one that specializes in Contax G series cameras.
