For Sale Contax 139Q - User, with flash, NIB databack and winder $150

This is a great little camera. Works flawlessly.

As usual, the leather covering is worn off. Viewfinder is bright and clear but I wouldn't say it's perfect. It's a well used camera. No big marks on the metal. Shutter speeds are close if not right on. I've used this camera quite a bit recently and everything was exposed correctly and in perfect focus.

Comes with a Contax TLA 30 Flash that's very clean and works as new. Also includes a new in the box databack, which has never been installed.

$150 plus shipping (may consider trades for a reasonable user condition LTM lens)

I will also throw in the 139Q Contax winder ... which is also well used. It had some corrosion in the battery compartment and I performed some primitive surgery and brought it back to life. I've only used it a handful of times but if I remember correctly, it winds the film on (3 or 5 frames per second, don't remember which), just as it should ... but I couldn't get it to rewind, so it will work for sports, etc., but you'll have to rewind manually.

And it's a REAL Contax not a Yashicatax. Does it come with a lens?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Yashica and Contax shared a mount. Contax was / is the result of a Zeiss collaborative with Yashica.

This is a genuine Contax camera. It's one of three that I own. I also own two Yashica cameras. I would not advertise one of my Yashica cameras as a Contax camera.

If a lens was included, I would have listed one.

Geez buddy settle down, it was meant as a positive thing. In the early 1970s, production of Zeiss Ikon cameras had ceased but the desire to build a high-quality system using Zeiss lenses remained. In 1973 the Contax name was licensed to the Japanese maker Yashica to create a prestigious brand of 35mm cameras and interchangeable lenses in cooperation with the German company. You are correct though, I guess Contax was always a Yashica product I was confusing the Zeiss-Ikon thing as I thought they produced the Contax until they sold the name to Yashica. Oh well my bad. The RTS and the 139 were outstanding cameras.

Ok ... no problem. Sorry to jump your case. Some folks turn their noses up at the Contax SLRs in light of the original Zeiss-Ikon Contax rangefinders (which I love and would love to own.) Thought you were one of those folks and taking a jab at what you just acknowledged as a very fine camera. So again, my apologies. Pictures to follow in a few minutes.







I do have a lens that I can throw in for a little extra. It's not a Zeiss nor a Yashica but it's remarkably sharp. It's a Sakar 28 f2.8. In the only test I've done (using ADOX CMS 20 and a tri-pod), this lens is indistinguishable from my Distagon at F5.6/F8/F11, when printed on 11x14, and for this reason, I wouldn't mind holding onto it ... but if you lack C/Y lenses and want to get this camera/flash/winder package and not drop a lot of cash on glass, you can have the lens for another $40. The lens is softer than a Distagon at F2.8, but still very useable.

Okay ... a few additions. I'm including the original leather case for the 139. The straps that wrap around the lugs, are worn through. This case is fine for storing the camera, but you will need to make some modifications if you want to keep the bottom half of it attached the camera body while in use. I'm also including the manual for the 139Q and the TLA 30 flash, as well as the original leather case for the winder. Regarding the winder, i put batteries in it and tried it again and it's the same as before. Works perfectly to advance the film but it won't rewind. Also the vertical button does not work.
