I just got a Contaflex Rapid (unit focusing with the two little nubs on the barrel) and it's all working smoothly, however the lens focuses beyond infinity. Focused to infinity, the lens scale reads 10 feet. The bayonet front lens element is fitted correctly as far as I can tell.
Obviously perfectly usable as it's an SLR, just means scale/guess focusing isn't possible.
Is it like this one http://www.earlyphotography.co.uk/site/entry_C586.html
if so someone has had it apart and reassembled it with the focusing helical out of sync with the focus scale. Shouldn't matter unless you want to zone focus or just want the scale to be accurate.
Check the focus at the film plane as compared to the viewfinder and make sure its correct before doing anything critical with it.
