CONTACT Photo is the worlds largest exhibition of photographic art. Unlike PhotoLA or Paris Photo, it's focus is on the art rather than the sale of art. For the past 20 years, during the entire month of May....galleries, restaurants, public spaces, lobbies, anywhere one can hang a pic are opened to the public for a display of photography as an art medium.
So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed mid to late 19th century Sultan commissioned pics of Istanbul at the Aga Khan Museum and the two special exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Ontario - one of photojournalism by some of the greats and the other on the use of found photography. If you're into photography as an artistic expression, or just love photographic art, or just want to visit my home town of Toronto, go see.
