A Jobo ATL series machine will automate the process sequence. You load up the processing solutions, attach the tank and press 'start' (or thereabouts). It isn't particularly fast for black & white single film processing compared to a Paterson tank but is very time efficient when processing multiple rolls.

My local lab just started running processing only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is just a small one hour lab, but they get all of my colour business currently. $13 to develop and print a roll of 36ex C41 film. That's how much it costs these days

Hi Fleath, just received back a few rolls of Portra that I had processed at a lab down your way, Atkins Technicolour. These were wedding pics for a friend of mine, $17 a roll with 6x4 prints, well worth it.....the best prints I have seen for a long time....highly recommended.

I take my film to David Lipson Photography in Great Dunmow, Essex for processing. Unless it's C41 compatible, it takes a week to turn it around but that's not a problem for me as I can always fiddle with my digi stuff for a while (;o)). For anyone in the north Essex / east Herts area, I can definitely recommend David Lipson's.

The negs always come back clear and mark-free and the prints Mike Perry (who owns the shop) has done for me in the past have always been excellent. Okay, it's a little bit costlier than Snappy Snaps and it's not as quick - but I'm a low volume user and seldom shoot for anyone else's benefit these days, so I don't mind waiting for good results.

Atkins is an amazing place, I haven't been there for a while but the fridges and shelves were always well stocked with film right up to 8x10. I've been meaning to get back there, they do brilliant work but I don't shoot terribly much colour that's worth their skills.

local mini lab down the street from me is about 4$ +/- a roll, 110 - 35mm for a set of prints and process.
sams club is about 1.50$ for 110, and 4$ for 35mm 24exp ... sent out to fuji.
fuji hasn't raised their prices in years for the walmart/sams send out service ..
they have just changed their locations ...
often times you get what you pay for .. either in guilt ( for sending to wal-sams )
or great processing/prints/service/ for staying local and keeping someone good in business.

I deal with Dale Labs down in Hollywood, Fl. and their prices are $17 for 36exp printed 4x6 and $10 for 36exp slides. 120 printed is $10.75 for 6x6, $12.50 for 645 and $9.50 for 6x7. The prices have definitely gone up but their service is very good. In a conversation last week with one of the girls she mentioned that their business has picked up since Seattle film Works and another major chain quit production, but when I asked if they were really busy because of this she said no. I keep thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to start E6 and C41 at home, at least to solidify a consumables production.

Film Processing alive out west

I just returned from a trip to the US west: Arizona and Nevada and to my suprise I had no trouble finding film processing at the very chains Walmart to mention one that have discontinued it here in central Ohio even in realitivly small Kingman Az and the much larger Las Vegas NV. So the digital craze is perhaps not so even ? I wonder about the US east ?

Here in Richmond, Va there are a few spots that will do C-41 without being too expensive.
