Speaking of flare. My favorite. Jupiter-12 on a Zorki 4.

That's a beautiful shot, I remember I've seen something similar in Gravity (obviously digitally reproduced) when in a sequence the camera pans and frames the sun.

Thanks. It was just luck that it came out like it did. If I remember, it was one of my first shots with the Jupiter 12 and I wanted to see how bad it flared. I pointed it toward the sun and shot. I had no idea what it would look like. I guess in reality this is an unwanted lens trait but I like the effect.

Well the RF on this Leica seems spot on. The scales on my J-8 and J-12 must be off, indicating a little farther distance out than where actually focused. The J-11 indicated the correct distance. All were in focus when the RF was focused. Here are some snaps from my first roll. Only about half way through scanning them now but all looks good.

J-8 at f/2

J-8 at f/11

J-11 at f/5.6

J-12 at f/5.6

That's the way Mr.Barnack designed his cameras.

Pics are fine, everything in focus, everybody's happy!

The Summitar is in and looks nice. I have an extra Jupiter 12 end cap that fits nicely on the Summitar with it fully collapsed but I don't have a front cap that works. B&H has the Kaiser 41mm Push-On Lens Cap for under $12.00 US. Will it work on a Leica Summitar 50mm f/2.0 collapsible lens? Also, I guess i need an adapter for using filters. Any suggestions? From what I read on line it's a 36.5 to 39 mm adapter. However, from the pics I've seen it seems like once you put it and a filter on you'd stand a good change of a little vignetting.

You can use a step up ring which can be bought from ebay. Filters for summitar are very hard to find. heavystar on ebay has them

You can find Summitar filters with a little patience. I found yellow and green ones for less than $20 each.
