Good Day All,
Bob, Bob's business partners and I met in Toronto.

Some of the stuff we did and Decided:
  • We chose the photographs that will be in The APUG Exhibition.
This will be an excellent show with some really outstanding work.
I'll have more on this show in a separate thread...
  • We went over the schedule and decided that the second Nature outing "Forks of the Credit Provincial Park" Will be cancelled. The first outing on Friday will be going forward as planned.
  • We have reached the point where we will nolonger automatically issue refunds. As stated on the web, refunds 1 month prior to the event will be handled on a case by case basis. We haven't had too many requests for refunds, but I thought I'd let everyone know.
  • Everyone will receive their Pass (actually they'll be badges) when they get to the conference.
  • We met with the Volunteers and they are an excellent group. I am very happy and feel pretty gash darn lucky to have them.

Thats all for now..

Truthfully, before John asked me to assist on the night photo outing, I was reconsidering the choice to attend the conference in spite of it's relative closeness and my having paid for registration. HOWEVER, after getting a sneak peek at things this past Saturday, I gotta say I'm psyched! When the organizers say "film is throwing a party," they're not kidding. This is truly going to be a celebration of traditional methods, hosted not in some sterile hotel, but in Bob's amazing lab and gallery facility complete with darkrooms, developing rooms, framing rooms, etc... I got a quick tour and lost track of it all -- simply incredible.

I really hope that any fence sitters will seriously consider attending. Anyone who cares about analogue owes themselves this coming reminder of just how healthy its practice still is. It looks to me like this thing is going to be a huge success and something not to miss. So, well ...don't miss it!

Michael This is exactly how I feel. I think we are going to have conference with all the goods -- Shooting, learning, exhibitions, photo goods and a bunch of good people to hang out with.

Here is the link to the thread with the Conference Exhibitions:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

For some of us, it's just too far away, and/or bad timing. BUT, that doesn't mean we don't want it to be a roaring success!

Best of luck to everyone involved, thanks to anyone who had a part in putting it together, and I hope all attendees have a great time.

Next year in ... ??

Cheers y'all.

Bummer! I was looking forward to that. Is anything happening in its place?

Finally having an opportunity to meet many of you in person is the highlight for me, everything else will be a huge bonus so I can't wait

Currently the Ross household are scrambling to get ready for the big trip. Just 2 more days and we fly out. We'll (Wife, Daughter, and I) be in South Carolina with family, then I'll by going to Toronto for the conf. and back to SC for a few more weeks.

I'm happy for the conference team, it must be a thrill for them to see everything coming to fruition.

While most of the official events going on at that time will be at the Conf, there are many things in Toronto. There is the month long Contact festival which Bob's gallery is a part of. I believe there is a walking tour based around that. There are several "Discovery Walks" throughout the city. Many of them linking parks and protected natural areas or going through cultural or historic areas.

Everyone will receive their Pass (actually they'll be badges) when they get to the conference.

Due to a scheduling conflict, I will be arriving in Toronto late Friday morning to pick up my weekend pass. Hope this will not cause too much of an inconvenience?

Thankfully, my business meeting requirements have not impacted the workshop I registered for. Whew!

See you at the conference.

Bob,
There will be a registration table available all weekend. You can pick-up your pass as you see fit.

Bob, you can call me anything you like, as long as you don't call me late for meals. I've been called worse things than Joe.

Regards,
Bob

What time is the official "opening" planned for?
Be at the lab no later than 430 thurs no sooner than 3pm. there will be refreshments at the back. , you will be directed to the back tent city for registration. We are trying to start the speeches at 5pm sharp. No one will be allowed in between 5pm and 530 so not to disturb the blowhards speaking their 2 cents worth.
