Hi

Just a brief question. Can I mix a bag of Acidofix in a small amount of water and then dilute it to working solution along the way. And how long will it keep?

I don't know why not. I dilute fixer from concentrate or stock
strength, sodium or ammonium, at time of use. Fixer can be used
at almost any dilution as long as you've enough of the fix itself
in the solution to do the deed. That amount and the time in
the fix you will need to determine for yourself.

Acidofix, who puts that out, what do the instructions say? Dan

Apparently, Acidofix is a powdered, ammonium thiosulfate based rapid fixer from Agfa. I don't see the advantage to mixing it up as a more concentrated solution though unless storage space is a consideration. It is not like developers which may keep better as concentrates. The shelf life of the working solution seems to be rather short though, as it is listed at only 3 months. I've kept working solutions of both ammonium thiosulfate and sodium thiosulfate fixers much longer than that and they worked well to the very end. You can read something about Acidofix here:
