Compur shutter cable release socket

I have a Compur shutter that has a wobbly release socket (see photo to see how it looks like) and I wonder if this is possible to repair/tighten without dismantling it a lot? (the "oops, the shutter blades fell out" nightmare scenario) If so, I need to box it up and send it off to the camera repair guy.

The screw between the socket and release lever should tighten it up. Do not remove or loosen the 3 screws visible from the rear or the shutter blades will fall out.
If the cable release socket will not tighten then a machinist repair to the case is in order.

Alternatively
-) one can cement it in position from the outside by putting a kind of ring of epoxy cement at the edges between socket and barrel. (On the prerequisite that the barrel-cover is stable.)
-) cement an angular piece of metal to the sides of the socket and fasten it with the PC-connector screw. (On the prerequisite that one can take off that screw without bad effect.)

@AgX - the good old glue solution, didn't think of that.

I tried to back the screw shown above out. Some residue (parts of glue?) came off. I put the screw back in again, while trying a few variations, but it still wiggles both laterally and horisontally, even when the screw is tightened down.

It seems to move from the underside so to speak, when the inner L-shaped lever of the release button moves. Obviously the socket and the release lever is part of the same mechanism, but I don't know how they sit together really.

Is there a risk that the socket would fall off? If not, maybe I can live with it.

A ad-hoc solutruon would be using hotmelt instead of epoxy glue, so that you can take-off the glue again later, when you have access to a regular way of fastening that socket

The one at the white arrow.

Compur used several designs, which lens is in the shutter? Is it a specific camera or large format mount?
The face plate, speed ring, cocking ring may have to be removed and possibly part of the release mechanism to access the screw that holds the socket in place.
JB Weld around the edge should work.

Aha, thanks! The lens is a Symmar-S 180. large format mount. I am going to do a last try and see if it makes any difference, otherwise I'll send it out today.

If you download a copy of the Compur Shutter Service Manual its likely in a CN-1307-000 shutter. The shutter went through some internal design changes during production and this is the first version.

They're not fun to disassemble/reassemble.

Ah, well, I figured my ability with a screwdriver is too limited, so I sent it off - hopefully the repair guy will have a bit more success. Stupid me, I bought this many years ago and since it has this wobbly socket it has never gotten used much ...

The Compur is back after a trip to the repair guy - everything went smooth and the shutter is as good as new. Onwards and upwards!
