Compound shutter identification

Hi everybody,

I've just picked up from a family estate an 9/480 mm APo Ronar mounted on a Compound shutter, I intend to use on my 8x10 Wista Field.
Unfortunately, the mounting flange is missing. Googling on the web, I've understood there are different models of Compound shutter (3, 4, 5..).
How can I identifie mine ? Ass you can imagine it is quite large to support the Apo-Ronar cells which have a 69mm diameter barrel.

Probably a #5, but I don't have my copy of "Handbook of Photography" by Henney and Dudley (1939). It has information tables for the various size compound shutters (and others). If no one else comes up with a definitive yes or no, I'll check this evening when I get home.

Thank you for these usefull informations. I measured the thread diameter at 76.60mm, so I guess it is a number 4 10/II. This seems to be confirmed by the shutter diameter at 106mm as in your table. By the way, what does 10/II means ?

An exellent question, and one I have no good anwer for. It seems to specify the length and diameter of the tube the cells are screwed into?

The glass diameter (really the front optical apertore) of a 480/9 lens should be the same as a 240/4.5 lens, and the 210/4.5 Xenar takes a #3 shutter. And the 300/4.5 takes a #5, so it seems reasonable with a #4 for this size.

I am surely that it's No.4 Compound shutter.
