Hi

I am looking for an analog method of compositing multiple images. I know how (and have created) some double exposures and understand that I could do multiple exposures, therefore compositing imagery onto a negative.

I was hoping someone may be able to tell me the effect of doing this instead at the developing stage, so using multiple negatives and partially developing each one onto the paper. So if I had four negatives, could I do a 1/4 time for each one. one at a time, in an enlarger? What would the effect be?

Thanks in advance
James

Similar to an in-camera multiple exposure. But with the added functionality of varying contrast through the use of filters, of course. For effects like Uelsmann's, you'll need to apply masking. I tried my hand at it once and getting the registration right is a bit tricky, but otherwise it's fairly straightforward. Just give it a go, I'd say.
