You know the look, all the black is peppered with silver dots called schneideritis.

Does this affect enlarging contrast much? Is it worth taking the lower prices?

Given the current prices of used enlarging lenses, there is no real point of getting a lens with Schneideritis.

If you are talking about a regular Componon-S, I would wait for a good deal for a decent optics on E-Bay.

Schneideritis makes absolutely no difference so it's not worth worrying about.

If it is only Schneideritis, I agree. With one optics I bought, the paint which had fallen off stuck to the glass on the inside. It can be cleaned, of course, but I do not DIY and the price of having it done exceeds the value of that particular lens by far. Therefore, for cheap lenses, I would go for a non-affected lens.

Thanks! The one I saw that brought up the question had some flakes floating around, while I am a DIY kind of guy in this case I'm holding out for a better preserved 150mm lens for my new setup. May go 135mm but the question would remain the same  and that's an entirely different rabbit hole to go down.
