The C-1 has a special mounting block on the front standard for the compendium shade. The C-1 normally takes a compendium shade that has two rails that fit the sockets in the mounting block. The Calumet/Cambo shade probably only has a single attachment point, meant to screw into a threaded socket. They're not likely to be compatible. You may be able to adapt the Cambo hood though.

is the one you're looking at, then yes, it will fit, but I don't know if the rear opening will be large enough to not vignette your front lens element on the 480 Nikkor. Then again, you could always enlarge the opening. I don't have my compendium shade anymore to tell you the size of the hole.

I own a C-1 Compendium shade. It's totally different than a Cambo shade. The C-1 shade will fit over the lenses I use that have 105mm front rings. You'll usually find the C-1 shade being sold without the correct mounting block FlyingCamera mentions that attaches to the front standard. If it is missing this block it's a hard to find part. Lens and Repro in NYC had a cardboard box full of related parts for this setup when I needed one about a 18 months ago. They may still have some pieces if you need. You might ask for Jeffrey Iger as he seemed to know right where to look.

I dropped by Columbus Camera Group day before yesterday (Columbus, Ohio) and they had a really ratty C-1 compendium shade there on their large format shelves. Think it was in the neighborhood of $20. Had a lot of tape on it and I only glanced at it, but if you need one to rebuild, try calling them.

Also made the pilgrimage to Midwest Photo and saw Jim, fondled the new carbon fiber tripods and bought a box of Ilford HP4 5x7 and a cable release. Too bad the bargain basement is gone! That used to be my favorite place to dig around and find the most unusual stuff...
