The attached photo compares the "look" of Blue Sensitive X-ray film to Foma 200 pan film, also sold under the Arista label. Both images shot on 5x7 negatives. Some dodging and burning was done at the time of scanning the negatives.

Sorry, no filtered shots.

X-ray film is available in sheet film sizes starting at 8x10 and going up to very large sizes. Very cheap. About 25 to 35 cents per 8x10 sheet, in boxes of 100 sheets. I cut down to 5x7.

Curious about the asa on x-ray film. What speed was the x-ray film used at in the image? Looks to be quite capable of fine work in the right condition. Where is it available? thanks, tim

I wonder if the 2nd emulsion layer would be a hindrance in using X-ray film for enlarging negatives for alternative process use?

I rated the x-ray film at between ISO 100 and ISO 50. Development time in HC-110b is very short, on the order of 2 minutes, otherwise the highlights get very dense. My ISO is based on getting shadow detail. The second emulsion layer does seem (in my opinion) to cause some softening and blooming of the image, thus the X-ray negatives are not as sharp as single emulsion conventional film negatives.

X-ray film is available from a wide variety of on-line vendors of X-ray supplies. A goggle search will turn up quite a few. You should expect to pay from between $26 to $36 a box of 100 8x10 sheets.

Another comparison.

Here is another comparison. The X-ray film rated at between ISO 50 and ISO 100, and developed in HC-110b for about 2 minutes. The Fomapan 200 negative rated at ISO 100 and developed in HC-110b for about 3.5 minutes.
