Good one Andy! I have already made my film choices long ago, but this could be a big help for folks still shopping around for a good 400 speed film. I wonder why is there a difference in backing paper smell? You liberals up north can still buy Candy smokes???? If I could find them here in the states there would be a Surgeon Generals warning on the side of the pack. I sure miss that hacking smokers cough, ya right. I've switched to donuts instead and haven't noticed any donut induced hacking cough.

Thanks for your testing Dandy Andy!

Some shops here have retro candy... I've noticed the word cigarette is no longer on the packages...called candy sticks, now! They no longer look like cigarettes, either. Doughnuts are better!

Yes, donuts and fritters certainly taste better for sure. Trouble is they are just as addictive as those blasted smokes were, but at least I don't wake up having the feeling I slept with a dirty sock in my mouth. Also, it's darn expensive to smoke now! The money I save can buy a lot of film and paper. Each to his/her own I guess. have a great day. It was white here this morning. West Michigan just got its first snowfall and it's very pretty.

Nicely done. I can't help but think that your darkroom space, with its own outside entrance, must get chilly in the winter!

Chilly- I'll say Have you heard the wind blowing in one of his darkroom videos? It made it look like the cabin in Charlie Chaplin's Gold Rush

Even the local bears are not prepared to go in there to watch him make his worthwhile videos for us

You guys forget that I live on the west coast of Canada, where the average Winter temperature is about 6C. Sometimes it dips below zero... Without the heater on, the temp in my darkroom sits at 10C. I made sure the walls and ceiling are heavily insulated. Now where I come from... Saskatchewan... that's a whole other story!

Just out of interest can anyone in the U.S. say whether on balance Kentmere is generally the cheaper, more expensive or about the same price in the U.S. ?

Thanks

I live on the west side of Northamptonshire, England where the winters are much the same but without the bears

I once had a "moose loose aboot the hoose" but only because I am a Scotsman

And you would think I would know that, considering my dad is from there!

Andrew, wasn't your dad the one who on his arrival was met off the train by a local Canadian. When they were walking from the station he spotted a large beast with flattish horns like paddle boards and said "What the hell's that!" The Canadian replied: That, Jock, is a Canadian moose" Your dad replied: "In that case I hope we don't meet a Canadian rat"

Hah, incredible timing. I was trying to find an answer to this very question earlier today. Kentmere 400 is a personal favorite because it has some reasonable ability to push well, imo. I was looking to see if they were the same because with the frequency I shoot every penny counts. I'll have to pick up some rolls and see how well they push.
Also now I want some candy cigarettes.

To earn your doughnut you first have to carry 50 lbs of camera and tripod out, carry out your shoot with 2 exposures then come back and process your film.

If you're testing roll film, candy sticks

I just came up from the darkroom, sniffed my Kentmere 200 backing paper, nothing! Andy, I suspect that the odour is on your mind.

The whole subject of Kentmere 400 and Andrew's videos had really persuaded me to try it out next time I buy some film

Incidentally "Hoots mon, there's a moose loose aboot this hoose " was a tune by a group called the Lord Rockingham XI, the leader of which was not a Lord and was nearly sued by the real Lord Rockingham who was an aristocrat. Worse than that the fake Lord Rockingham was English

Don't try to break the ice in a Scottish pub by uttering "Hoots mon " You may not get out alive
