Do any of you'all know of an internet based lab that can properly handle the development and scanning of Pan F Plus.

What are the best ways to develop this stuff?

Hi,

as Andrew said, better do it yourself. If you want to let a film get developed, better take FP4+.
PanF+ is a contrasty film, if your subjects are contrasty, too, some care is needed.
I had very good results here with two bath developers like Moersch MZB.
On the other side Rodinal works great for low contrast scenes.
I mostly expose at EI 25.

Using a good lab is not a sin. If Michael Kenna can do it, so can we mortals. The key is finding one that gives you results that you like. I use Photolab in Berkley CA. They process my film in a dip and dunk process, in XTOL. Good results, although I haven't sent them any Pan F as yet.

Bit rich when digital and hybrid users of the board have to read ops grueling comments on digital to find this.....

The standard scans are okay for low fidelity uses. Pay for the better quality scan if that’s important to you. I like getting negs, CD with scans, and on-line access all for a reasonable cost. Reliability for me has been 100% in years as a customer.

I hope the suggestions help you. I know sometimes I send film out for processing (color side/color negative) from time to time.

If I’m not mistaken, Harman and Swann and The Darkroom are all at the same address in San Clemente. I’ll be interested to hear your experience.

I've always wondered if there is any difference between the three, other than price. The description of B&W processing from thedarkroom.com is very similar to that from the HarmanLabUS site.

You have to realize that I lack the room to store all the stuff I would need to develop it, with no reliable way to shield the drying film from dirt, let alone a way to control the temperature of the developer.

Also, the service provide by Swann aka the Darkroom has been less than reliable for many of us.

I need a reliable lab for Pan F, or I will have to give up on b&w film photography!

I guess you wouldn't want to eat and sleep in a camper van that smells like a darkroom... Sorry I can't help you with a reliable lab. Good luck!
