Got to agree with Markster. people always seem so amazed when I hand them a "real" photo print. I have gotten the question about what kind of ink jet printer I use. I do all my B&W processing, and printing. There is a lot of DR stuss at "the bay" for pennies on the dollar.

Wal-Mart still does MF and 35mm in Berlin.

This is really a rehash of an earlier post by the same title, but my local Wal-Mart sends their films to Fuji and they develop 120 and 35mm. The bad thing is that 120 takes two weeks and 35mm takes one week. The price of 120 is cheaper than 35mm which is getting too high. I sent my last roll of 35mm to York and it only cost a few bucks. (York doesn't do 120 film.) I will be sending a slide roll soon. I would suggest that people place an add on CL or somewhere to see if there are others that develop their film locally. Perhaps if several people got together and did their films, it would be more economical. Sending to labs by mail seems to be the coming thing unless you self develop.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely give AandI a try. Mailing off seems my best bet for color. I took a class on developing b&w back in the 70's. I wasn't very good at it, but if I want to continue with b&w, eventually that may be my only option. Right now, there is one place in town that will develop b&w, but they won't print it. I will have to scan the negatives and get digital prints.

Well, google for a local camera shop or film developing near you. I did that recently and found a place not "too far" from my own home that does in-house processing the right way. I never knew they were there or I would have tried them long ago. You never know what might turn up with a Google search!

The turnaround time would be faster than if you mailed it, for sure.

Only if they don't themselves just mail it out to someone for you! That is becoming commonplace as stores close their own labs. Then you just pay a markup on what you'd pay to send it yourself though there may be a shipping cost savings though I don't know if they'll bother to pass it on to you.

Very true. However that's why you put a bit of leg work into it. The place I found isn't a grocery store (where I normally get prints developed). I scouted the place out, talked to the guy there, etc. This particular one was a photo printing studio. Naturally if you go with the premiere put-it-in-a-frame quality paper it's pricey, but it's a little less if you go with simple old glossy paper. Can't hurt to run a google search, eh? All else fails, you've already got your fall-back option (posted above).

Especially for E-6. Some small shops still have their own C-41 processors, but send out slide film.

Yep. I don't know how much longer Ektachrome will be in this world before it follows Kodachrome into the discarded clippings pile of film history.
