Colorplus 200

I just ordered some from Amazon. I saw it mentioned in another post.
Do any of you guys shoot this film with much regularity.?
It is pretty affordable. Seems to be a great film for general purpose shooting...
Trips to Disneyland
Birthday parties
Shots at the neighborhood garage sales
Taking the grand kids to the railroad museum
Stuff like that.....Fun Photos
Anyway, if anybody has Kodak Colorplus 200 stories they would like to share, i am happy to read them.

It's basically the current version of Kodak VR 200. Kodak Alaris confirmed this. For anyone in their 30s today, chances are that's what your parents used (Kodak VR 100, 200, 400, or even 1000) to take photos of you when you were little if they used Kodak color negative film. Evidence for the current Lomography color neg. films being the current versions of VR 100 and VR 400 are there, too.

I did not shoot color very often at all. I am trying to remember what i used 1978-1998.....i guess it would have been Kodachrome and...Kodak Gold.? Not sure how long the Gold has been around.

Color Plus is, as people have said, what used to be known as KodaColor VR. It's the less saturated colour negative film that was sold before the "Gold" line of films was introduced...and thereafter sold in tandem with Gold but often as a cheaper alternative. Personally I prefer it to Gold.

I've shot it and like it. It's not my favorite but not because it's inferior, I just have a different film as a favorite, that's all. Whenever I'm thinking about shooting a particular film, I go to the flickr group to see representative images and get a feel for how it looks and acts.

here in Italy is widely available in any camera shop that deals film. It is the cheapest kodak film only available in 35mm format 24 or 36 exp. I shot it many times and printed in the darkroom as well. If scanned will resoult much more grainy than any professional film, it has a worme palette and it is quite good for portrait. If handled properly will deliver good resoults; cheap film-lab will probably process it in nearly exhausted chemicals and give bad results (that's what happens here, anyway)

I've certainly seen Kodak Colorplus almost anywhere in the UK that sells camera film, usually as the cheap C41 print film.

On a side not.......i do not have a scanner, nor have a i ever used one. I am not insinuating deception, but those Flickr Shots.......
Some of them look exactly like what i think Colorpuls 200 would look like if i shot it. Some of it looks like it was shot with a different film, or was played with after the color neg was stuffed into a computer.
How do you know that what is shown there is really what it is purported to be.?

Are you going to get it processed and printed by a lab? In that case I suggest you to find someone who is working with good chemicals and print it optically, otherwise you may as well scan it yourself

It depends on how well it is developed and scanned. There are some good examples pretty far down the list.

I have only shot color a few times.....i do much more with Black and White, which i Develop/Print at home.
Anyway, to answer the question.......when i DO need a Photo Lab, i have used The Darkroom. As far as i know, they are a reputable place, and i would be planning on sending the Colorplus 200 to them.

I've been very disappointed with TheDarkroom. After getting scans with scan lines back multiple times, with no effort to explain or redo, I gave up on them. I have been very happy with northcoastphoto.com and thefindlab.com
I now actually use my local Samys camera in LA to develop my colour film, then I do the rest myself. (Samy's scans suck too)

That does not sound good.
I have only used them a few times for color, but i think mine all came out fine.
What did they say when you asked them about the problem.?

They did not respond which guaranteed that that was the last time I would use them. They also are more expensive than northcoastphoto and thefindlab, who have been very courteous and issue free.

Despite how cheap it is, it's still one of my favorite films. Especially when overexposed one stop.

Why is that a bad scan...does the photo look a lot different.?
To me, based on how people have described it, that looks a lot like what i imagine Colorplus Would Look Like.

It is a very good film for its price. It tends to be a bit redish at times, but it packs good resolution and delivering pleasant results.

I think that slight under-exposure makes it more red than usual, but I have to test it further about that.
